Isabel Lete Landa was a Spanish nun belonging to the Congregation of the Mercedarian Sisters. Born in Osintxu in 1913, she lived a life dedicated to service and religious devotion. After losing her mother at a young age, she was raised by relatives in the Azpeitia area. Throughout her life, she worked extensively with wounded individuals and those suffering from tuberculosis, eventually contracting the illness herself. She passed away in Eibar in 1941 at the age of 28.
Life and service
During her formation in Madrid and Zumárraga, she provided care to many people injured during the Civil War. Later, she moved to Eibar to assist patients at a hospital near the San Andrés Residence. Her dedicated efforts to support those suffering from tuberculosis led to her own infection. She is remembered by her congregation for her humble and mystical spirituality, which she modeled after Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.
Veneration
The Catholic Church recognizes her as a blessed. Her beatification was authorized in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. She is celebrated for her life of simple devotion and her passionate commitment to serving the sick and the poor.
