Irene de Ateno (greke Ειρήνη η Αθηναία; naskiĝis ĉ. 752, mortis la 9-an de aŭgusto 803) aŭ en Esperanto ankaŭ Ireno, konata ankaŭ kiel Irene Sarantapeĥaina (greke Εἰρήνη Σαρανταπήχαινα), estis imperiestrino de la Bizanca Imperio de 797 ĝis 802. Antaŭ tio, Irene estis pro edziniĝo imperiestrino de 775 ĝis 780, kaj vidva imperiestrino kaj regentino de 780 ĝis 797. Ŝi estas plej bone konata ĉar ŝi finigis Ikonoklasmon.
