নীল নদীৰ মূল অংশ দুটা- শুভ্ৰ নীল (White Nile) আৰু নীলা নীল ( Blue Nile)। শুভ্ৰ নীল দৈৰ্ঘ্য অধিক আৰু ইয়াৰ উৎপত্তি হৈছে কেন্দ্ৰীয় আফ্ৰিকাৰ গ্ৰেইট লেক (Great Lakes) অঞ্চলত। ই টানজানিয়া, লেক ভিক্টোৰিয়া, উগাণ্ডা আৰু দক্ষিণ চুডানৰ মাজেৰে বৈ গৈছে। নীলা নীল ইথিয়’পিয়াৰ লেক টানা (Lake Tana) ত আৰম্ভ হৈছে আৰু পূবা-দক্ষিণাকৈ চুডানলৈ বৈ গৈছে। এই দুয়োখন নৈ চুডানৰ ৰাজধানী Khartoum ত মিলিত হৈছে।
