David Yates (lindur më 8 tetor 1963) është një filmbërës dhe regjisor anglez që ka bërë regjinë e disa filmave të metrazhit të gjatë dhe të shkurtër si dhe prodhime televizive. Yates u ngrit në renditjen kryesore duke drejtuar katër filmat përfundimtarë në serinë e Harry Potter.
Puna e tij në seri solli sukses të madh kritik dhe komercial së bashku me çmimet, siç është British Academy Britannia Award për përsosmëri në regji. Projektet e mëvonshme të Yates përfshijnë The Legend of Tarzan dhe Kafshët fantastike dhe ku mund të gjenden (të dyja më 2016), dhe vazhdimin e Kafshët Fantastike dhe ku t'i gjejmë ato, Kafshët Fantastike: Krimet e Grindelvaldit (2018).
Jeta
David Yates u lind më 1963 në Lancashire, Angli. Prindërit e tij vdiqën kur ai ishte i ri. I rritur në fshatin Rainhill, Yates u frymëzua për të ndjekur një karrierë në filma pas shikimit të filmit të Steven Spielberg të vitit 1975 Jaws.. Para vdekjes së saj, nëna e Yates ia bleu atij një kamerë Super 8mm. Ai e përdori këtë për të xhiruar filma të ndryshëm, në të cilët shfaqeshin miqtë dhe familja e tij. Një film i tillë, The Ghost Ship, u punua në anije ku xhaxhai i tij punonte si kuzhinier. Ai ndoqi Kolegjin St Helens, ku përfundoi kurset e sociologjisë, politikës dhe letërsisë përpara se të kalonte në Universitetin e Essex. Yates tha se ai "e kishte shtyrë kolegjin gjatë gjithë kohës" dhe kurrë nuk priste të bashkohej me universitetin para se të habitej nga rezultatet e tij të provimit me nivel A. Ndërsa në Universitetin e Essex, Yates formoi Shoqatën e Prodhimit të Filmit dhe Videos. Ai u diplomua me BA në vitin 1987.
