Hingga hari ini, ia adalah satu-satunya artis yang memiliki tujuh single nomor satu berturut-turut di tangga lagu Billboard Hot 100 AS, dari "Saving All My Love for You" pada tahun 1985 hingga "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" pada tahun 1988.

Dia telah menerima anugerah Grammy Hall Of Fame lewat lagunya "I Will Always Love You" dan telah menerima Honors International Artist of All Time dari American Music Awards.

Kehidupan awal

Orang tuanya kemudian bercerai.

Karier

Musik

Ia memulai debut karier musik pertamanya ketika merilis lagu "You Give Good Love" pada awal 1985 namun single "Saving All My Love For You" yang dirilis pada pertengahan tahun 1985 menjadi yang paling sukses dan berhasil meraih posisi satu pada Billboard Hot 100 Chart dan mendapatkan anugerah Grammy Awards pertamanya. Berkat lagu itu, karier Whitney semakin menaik dan terus sukses dengan merilis album di tahun 1987 dan 1990 dengan hit; "How Will I Know", " I Wanna Dance With Somebody ", " Greatest Love Of All", "Where Do Broken Hearts Go", " So Emotional", "Im Your Baby Tonight" dan "All The Man Than I Need". Single seperti "I Will Always Love You", " I Have Nothing ", " Run To You" dan "Queen Of The Night" menjadi hit besar di seluruh Dunia (Khususnya single "I Will Always Love You") akibat album dan lagu tersebut, dia menyapu bersih dengan membawa 8 piala American Music Awards 1994, 11 Billboard Music Awards 1993 dan 3 Grammy Awards 1993. Keberhasilan The Bodyguard, Houston memulai tur global lain yang luas di seluruh dunia (The Bodyguard World Tour) pada tahun 1993-94.

Dengan hit " Its Not Right But Its Okey" dan "When You Belive" yang diduetkan dengan rival yang menjadi sahabat baiknya Mariah Carey. Album terakhir yang dirilis adalah "I Look To You" pada tahun 2009 dengan single yang dirilis "Million Dollar Bill", " I Look To You" dan "I Didn't know my own Strength", cukup sukses tetapi belum memuaskan label.
