Suffocation on yhdysvaltalainen tekninen death metal -yhtye. Se perustettiin vuonna 1988 Long Islandissa, New Yorkin osavaltiossa. Suffocationia pidetään yleisesti "brutal death metal" -alalajin alkuunpanijana.
Suffocation koostuu laulaja Ricky Myersista, kitaristi Terrance Hobbsista, kitaristi Charlie Errigosta, basisti Derek Boyerista ja rumpali Eric Morottista. Yhtye hajosi vuonna 1998, mutta perustettiin uudelleen vuonna 2003 muutamien jäsenten vaihduttua. Vuonna 2012 yhtyeen alkuperäisjäsen, rumpali Mike Smith erosi yhtyeestä. Hänen tilalleen tuli yhtyeessä aiemminkin ollut Dave Culross. Yhtye on luultavasti saanut nimensä Obituaryn kappaleesta Suffocation.
