Italian showgirl, television personality and model

Samira Lui

Samira Lui (born 6 March 1998) is an Italian television personality and model. Born in San Daniele del Friuli to an Italian mother and a Senegalese father, she came to public attention after winning the Miss Blumare title at fifteen and later placing third in the Miss Italia pageant in 2017. She has since appeared on several Italian television programmes, including quiz shows, talent competitions and reality series.

Early life

Lui was raised by her mother in Colloredo di Monte Albano after growing up in the Friuli region. She never knew her Senegalese father. In 2013, aged fifteen, she won the Miss Blumare title. After graduating as a surveyor, she moved to Milan, where she worked as a hostess at conferences and trade fairs while pursuing modelling work.

Television career

In 2017 she took part in the Miss Italia pageant and placed third, an appearance that drew some controversy about her multi-ethnic appearance and Senegalese origins. From 2021 she spent two seasons as a "professor" on the Rai 1 quiz show L'eredità. In 2022 she was a contestant on the twelfth season of the talent show Tale e quale show, finishing ninth, and in 2023 she took part in the seventeenth season of the Canale 5 reality show Grande Fratello, leaving in the twelfth episode. Since 2024 she has co-hosted La ruota della fortuna on Canale 5.
