Born into a noble family in Milan, he studied in Bologna and taught canon law before entering the service of the Roman Curia. After serving as an academic and a legal expert, Rinaldo was appointed Bishop of Vicenza in 1296. He later became the Archbishop of Ravenna-Cervia in 1303. During his tenure, he organized several provincial councils to address liturgical matters and clerical discipline. He also traveled to various northern Italian cities to facilitate reconciliation between local factions and the empire's monarch, Henry VII.

Veneration

Rinaldo is recognized as a blessed in the Catholic Church. His beatification was officially confirmed by Pope Pius IX in 1852 following the recognition of his local cultus. His feast day is observed on 18 August, the same date on which he died in Argenta in 1321. He is interred in the Ravenna Cathedral.
