5th-century bishop in Scotland

Patritsian

Patritsian was a 5th-century bishop who served in Scotland. His tenure in his episcopal see in Strathclyde ended when he was forcibly removed by Saxon invaders. Following his displacement, he sought refuge on the Isle of Man, where he lived until his death. He is recognized as a saint within the Christian tradition for his endurance and his efforts to spread the Gospel.

Life and ministry

During his time on the Isle of Man, Patritsian acted as a preacher, sharing the Gospel with the local population. After being driven from his original position in Strathclyde by Saxon forces, he found shelter among the Manx people. His life was defined by this transition from his initial leadership role to a life of refuge and continued religious service.

Veneration

The saint is commemorated on October 10. He is remembered for his patience and his devotion to others, qualities celebrated in liturgical hymns. Devotees look to him as a figure of steadfastness who continued his spiritual mission even after losing his official seat of authority.
