Giovanna Soderini

Giovanna Soderini was a 14th-century Italian religious figure from Florence. Born in 1301 to Giovanni Soderini, the former prior of the city, and Giovanna de' Rossi, she dedicated her life to spiritual service. In 1313, she was placed under the guidance of Giuliana Falconieri, who introduced her to the Mantellate, a group of servants of Mary. Following the death of Falconieri in 1341, Soderini assumed leadership of the Order as its superior.

After joining the Mantellate in her youth, Soderini rose through the religious community to become its leader. She held the position of superior for over two decades, managing the Order's affairs following the passing of her mentor. She remained in this role until her death in Florence on September 1, 1367.

Veneration

The religious woman is recognized as blessed by the Catholic Church. This status was officially granted by Pope Leo XII in 1828. Her feast day is observed annually on September 1, marking the anniversary of her passing.
