Agent Kim Reactivated is a South Korean revenge drama and action thriller television series that premiered in 2026 on SBS TV. Written by Nam Dae-joong and directed by Yi Seung-young and Lee So-eun, it stars So Ji-sub as a retired covert operative who is forced to reveal his lethal past after his high school daughter is kidnapped. The series adapts a spin-off of the PTJ Webtoon Universe and was also streamed globally on Netflix.
Plot and Production
The story follows Kim Do-hyeon, known as Mr. Kim, a former covert operative who lives as a bank employee and single father. When his daughter is abducted, he uses his old combat training to rescue her, drawing the attention of a national security bureau. He is joined by two former operatives who are also his old comrades. The series was jointly produced by Studio S and Fantagio, and it was frequently compared by media outlets to the American film Taken. Its production also used artificial intelligence models to create a three-minute action sequence, reducing visual effects costs.
Reception
The series was a commercial and critical success. Critics praised So Ji-sub's emotional performance and the dynamic among the three fathers at its center. The finale drew some viewer criticism for heavy product placement. The show reached a peak nationwide rating of 23.1%, which made it one of the highest-rated Friday and Saturday dramas in the history of the SBS network.
