Adele Bonolis was an Italian teacher and consecrated layperson born in Milan in 1909. After discovering her Catholic faith through prayer and Catholic Action, she dedicated her life to serving the impoverished. Driven by a desire to support women facing social challenges, she established several charitable organizations to provide both spiritual and material assistance. She passed away in Milan in 1980, leaving behind a legacy of social rehabilitation and support for those in need.
Life and work

After studying philosophy, Bonolis worked as a religious teacher in a high school. Her commitment to helping women, particularly those affected by prostitution, led her to found four charitable works. These included three residential homes designed to foster autonomy and freedom, as well as the Amitié association, which aimed to help women rebuild their lives and capacity for love.
Veneration
Recognized for her heroic virtues, she was declared venerable by Pope Francis in January 2021. Her life of service and dedication to the poor is commemorated annually on August 11, the day of her death.
