Ku'damm 77 is a three-part German television film based on an idea by Annette Hess. It continues the family saga of the Schöllack family after a 14-year time jump from the earlier installments Ku'damm 56, Ku'damm 59 and Ku'damm 63. The film premiered at MIPCOM in Cannes in October 2025, was released on the ZDF streaming portal in December 2025 and was first broadcast on television from January 2026.
Story and characters
The story follows the Schöllack family, now living with three generations above their dance school on the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. Matriarch Caterina keeps interfering in her daughters' lives, while eldest daughter Helga runs the school and grows close to a dentist. A television journalist makes a documentary about the family business, and the narrative also introduces younger characters, including Monika's daughter Dorli and Helga's daughter Friederike, as new central figures.
Structure and broadcast
The production is divided into three parts and was published on the ZDF streaming portal in six episodes. The plot is also set against the division of Germany, with storylines involving West and East Berlin and the activities of the Stasi, the East German secret police. The film is the fourth installment in the series, which has previously been shown with time jumps of three or four years between installments.
